Welcome
Message from the Headteacher
Welcome to St. John’s CE Thornham. We are all very proud of our school and I am extremely privileged to be the Headteacher here. Our children and staff are valued and celebrated as individuals who together make St John’s Thornham the special place it is. Both children and staff flourish through strong partnerships with Cranmer Education Trust and parents enabling our children to meet their full potential.

In RE Creators have been looking at faith communities. We worked together to create a word bank linked to belonging for Christians, Muslims and Jewish people. We then chose the word most important to us to create a paper chain. It was so interesting seeing what people chose!
Forest School Adventures…
This week we have been Nature Detectives and looked for fallen objects around our school grounds to meet a shape or pattern criteria. We have found lots of interesting fungi growing around the grounds - we have learnt about safety and identification.
Our Adventurers have been learning all about assertiveness in PSHCE! They explored skills such as staying calm, having positive body language, smiling, being friendly but firm, and knowing when to walk away. 🗣️
Our lighthouse crew delivered their first light house worship this afternoon. They focused on our school value of togetherness and shared the story of Jesus Feeds the Crowd. They asked questions about what the story tells us about togetherness and then ended with a prayer
As part of their work, our SHADES ambassadors led a collective worship at the Gorton Monastery during the Anglican Heads’ conference. They amazed everyone with their confidence, speaking in front of over 100 headteachers. You were amazing role models and an inspiration to all!
Amazing! That was so brave of you and we are super proud!
Our SHADES Ambassadors in school have created their own display, sharing the work that they do within our school community. We hope to build our team this year to spread the word and raise awareness of racial justice and faith!
